Living in Dominion: Walking in God’s Delegated Authority
From the very beginning, God’s intention for humanity was clear. In Genesis 1:26 (NIV), He declared: “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
You and I were created to govern and have dominion over the earth—not in our own strength, but through God’s delegated authority. This means that dominion is not a privilege for a select few but a calling for every believer in Christ.
The Power of Our Words
God has given us a vital tool to exercise that dominion: our words. Proverbs 18:21 (AMP) tells us, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit.”
When we speak words of faith and authority, we are not just making declarations into the air—we are commanding situations to align with God’s will for our lives. Heaven responds to faith-filled words because they echo God’s own Word.
Dominion Is Daily
Dominion is not a one-time event; it is a daily, ongoing practice. Just as Adam and Eve were called to “subdue” the earth continually, you and I must consistently exercise spiritual authority in every area of our lives. That means taking authority over fear, over sickness, over lack, over confusion—refusing to allow the enemy to dictate the terms of our lives.
Jesus reminded us in Luke 10:19 (NIV), “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” Notice, He didn’t say we might have authority one day—He said we already have it. It’s present-tense, it’s active, and it’s ours to walk in.
Living as the Ruling Class
As we move forward this week, let’s remember that we are not powerless in the face of life’s challenges. Through Christ, we have been given authority to overcome every obstacle.
So let’s commit to speaking words of faith, taking dominion over our circumstances, and living as the ruling class in physical form that God created us to be. When you open your mouth in faith, mountains move, darkness flees, and God’s kingdom advances.
This week, declare boldly:
“I have dominion through Christ.”
“My words carry God’s authority.”
“I rule and reign in life through Jesus.” (Romans 5:17)
You were never created to bow to circumstances—you were created to reign over them.
