1. John 10:27

• AMPC:
  The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me.

• MSG:
  My sheep recognize my voice. I know them, and they follow me.

• NIV:
  My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

2. Isaiah 30:21

• AMPC:
  And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way; walk in it, when you turn to the right hand and when you turn to the left.

• MSG:
  Your teacher will be right there, local and on the job, urging you on whenever you wander left or right: “This is the right road. Walk down this road.”

• NIV:
  Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

3. Hebrews 1:1–2

• AMPC:
  In many separate revelations... God spoke of old to [our] forefathers... But in the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son...

• MSG:
  Going through a long line of prophets, God has been addressing our ancestors in different ways for centuries. Recently he spoke to us directly through his Son.

• NIV:
  In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets... but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son...

4. James 1:5

  If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God... and it will be given him.

  If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help...

  If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God... and it will be given to you.

5. Psalm 46:10

  Let be and be still, and know (recognize and understand) that I am God...

• MSG:
  Step out of the traffic! Take a long, loving look at me, your High God...

• NIV:
  Be still, and know that I am God...

6. Romans 8:14

• AMPC:
  For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

• MSG:
  God’s Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!

• NIV:
  For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.

7. Revelation 3:20

• AMPC:
  Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice... I will come in to him and will eat with him...

• MSG:
  Look at me. I stand at the door. I knock. If you hear me call and open the door, I’ll come right in and sit down to supper with you.

• NIV:
  Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person...

8. 1 Kings 19:11–12

• AMPC:
  ...the Lord was not in the wind... not in the earthquake... not in the fire; and after the fire [a sound of gentle stillness and] a still, small voice.

• MSG:
  ...but God wasn’t to be found in the wind... the earthquake... the fire... And then a gentle and quiet whisper.

• NIV:
  ...but the Lord was not in the wind... earthquake... fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.
